In Macau, quality garden houses may be found in 2 locations, namely Estrada de D. Joăo Paulino district where the Jardim da Penha is located, and Coloane area where you may find Jardims de Cheoc Van, Jardims Long Chao Kok and a few small estates such as Health Garden. So if we are talking about in the Macau peninsula, then Jardim da Penha is the only one.

Traditionally, Penha is the most prestigious residential area in Macau. If you walk along Rua da Boa Vista, Calçada das Chácaras, Estra De D. Joăo Paulino, etc, you may see a few well known buildings around such as the CEO, Mr. Edmond Ho's office complex and many secretarial grade officers' houses of residences, Chinese Government's Club and senior officials' quarters, Mr. Stanley Ho's house and many more well known figures of the City. Development in the area is subjected to strictly planning control to maintain its low density and hence, tranquil environment. Presently, the area has been preserved to as close to its natural state as possible with matured trees lined both sides of the road, so the area is beautiful but close the city centre.

Mr. Roy Pun, Senior Sale Manager of NAPE branch, Midland Realty Ltd commented that with the blooming economy, spiral raising population and incomes because of the gambling industry and the influx of management grade staff for the industry, there has been good demand for quality garden houses. "Jardim da Penha comprises about 97 houses, floor areas ranging from 1,130 Sq. Ft (2 bedrooms) to 2,969 Sq. Ft. (4 bedrooms). Facilities include swimming pool, tennis court courts, ample parking spaces and security control system," states Mr. Pun. "and because of shortage of supply, most of the vendors would not accept offers lightly. Presently, only very few houses are on the market and very little recorded transactions."
